The Acad\u00e8mia del Cinema Catal\u00e0 has nominated the short film Balandrau, Infern Gla\u00e7at as best documentary film in its XIV Gaud\u00ed Awards. In the 12th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival, the Museu Ol\u00edmpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch<\/a> will screen the short film on Thursday, February 17 at 19h.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Balandrau, Infern Gla\u00e7at<\/em> has been nominated for best documentary<\/strong> at the XIV Gaud\u00ed Awards<\/strong>. These awards are promoted by the Acad\u00e8mia del Cinema Catal\u00e0<\/strong> (Catalan Cinema Academy) and are given annually to promote the best films, artists and technicians of the Catalan film industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The director of the documentary, Guille Cascante<\/strong>, brings us closer to one of the greatest mountain tragedies experienced in the Catalan Pyrenees. On December 30, 2000<\/strong>, a violent storm of hurricane-force wind and snow killed ten mountaineers. “I felt guilty, everyone had died except me,” says Josep Maria Vil\u00e0<\/strong>, the only survivor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A chilling story, an overwhelming look that, in a respectful way, reminds us of our fragility in the face of the impassive force of nature. Balandrau, frozen hell<\/strong> <\/em>is the first-person account of those who that day, more than surviving, were born again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the mixed format of the BCN Sports Film Festival<\/strong>, the documentary will be screened free of charge at the Infern Gla\u00e7at<\/strong><\/em> session on Thursday, February 17<\/strong> at 7pm<\/strong> in two ways: in a live<\/strong><\/a> format, at the Museu Ol\u00edmpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch; and virtually<\/strong><\/a> through the FESTHOME platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
