The best sports cinema arrives at the BCN Sports Film Festival with 84 productions
Once again, this year the best sports cinema comes to Barcelona, from February 14th to 20th, with documentaries, short fiction and animation films and unpublished audiovisual productions related to the world of sports. The 12th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival will feature a total of 84 productions that will not leave our audience indifferent.
The program will highlight short films with their own name: the production of Carla Suárez ‘Imbatida’ and her eagerness to overcome; the pioneers in male artistic swimming in Men in Sync and their motto “sport has no gender”; or Run! Shunzi, inspired by the personal story of Zhang Deshun, the world champion who escaped from the mountains to realize her dream of becoming a professional athlete.
The big novelty this year will be the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona ’92 Olympic Games with two productions that will make us remember some of the best sporting moments: Los otros. La verdad de Miriam, the story of Miriam Blasco, the first Spanish athlete to win a medal at the Olympic Games and the first to be an Olympic champion; and Hockey 92, Mujeres de Oro, which will explain how the field field hockey team went from being amateur to becoming Olympic champions.
If we talk about historical facts, Balandrau, Infern Glaçat will move us with a portrait of the tragedy that killed nine people in the Pyrenees in December 2000. The Volta ‘100 years’ will pay tribute to the 100 editions of the Volta Ciclista de Catalunya with the testimonies of some of the most successful cyclists of our times. And soccer fans will be able to enjoy pieces full of highlights such as Messi, el desè art, with goals, titles and plays from Messi’s career at Barça, or The Eagles of Carthage, which recalls the final of the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations.
We will enjoy a unique feeling of freedom and adrenaline with the most natural sport in Dandoy or Esports 360: Slackliners els vianants del cel . And we will also have a touch of humor that will bring us closer to the funniest side of the sport. Intermedio, L’Empoté, Solo una más or the animations of Athleticus will show us how to keep the illusion in any context.
If you like cinema and sport, you can’t miss this new edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival!
